May 23, 2023: Mary Kate and Abhi match on Coffee Meets Bagel, the dating app.
May 29, 2023: Mary Kate and Abhi have their first date at Zu Izakaya Asian Kitchen Bar. From that date, Abhi learns that Mary Kate is a very honest person and Mary Kate learns that Abhi does not like raw sushi.
June 5, 2023: Abhi attends one of MK's Sound Healing at Sunset events. While all the attendees where in a meditative state, laying on yoga mats, Abhi stood at the side and watched. Mary Kate found this interesting.
July 15, 2023: Mary Kate tours Abhi's apartment and learns that he is very organized and has just as much stuff as her. She also learns that he enjoys tinkering with his 3D printer.
July 24, 2023: Abhi surprised Mary Kate with a dozen roses and a date to the movies.
August 12, 2023: Mary Kate and Abhi go stargazing at Canyon Lake.
September 14, 2023: Abhi teaches MK how to make dosa.
October 7, 2023: Mary Kate and Abhi take their first trip to the Grand Canyon with Maple (MK's dog) to watch the sunset and stargaze.
October 8, 2023: Mary Kate realizes that she loves Abhi but does not tell him in fear of scaring him away.
November 4, 2023: Mary Kate and Abhi take their first trip to Sedona and Flagstaff with Maple. They hiked West Fork Trail and stargazed in the middle of the desert in Sedona.
November 23, 2023: Abhi comes to St. Louis for Thanksgiving and meets Mary Kate's family. Abhi learns that MK's family is filled with very kind people. Abhi learns cooking skills from Patty (MK's mom.)
December 25, 2023: Abhi and Mary Kate spend Christmas together in Phoenix with Brian (MK's dad) and his Anirudh (Abhi's brother.)
December 30, 2023: Abhi experiences Mary Kate at a open bar event.
January 7, 2024: Abhi and Mary Kate drive in white-out conditions in Flagstaff to go snow tubing. Abhi also roasts his first smore.
January 14, 2024: Abhi survives girls night at MK's house.
February 13, 2024: It's Abhi's birthday and MK showers him with gifts, decorates his desk at work, and celebrates by going to Torchy's Tacos with Patty and Forrest (MK step dad.)
February 14, 2024: MK surprised Abhi and MK spend valentines day with Patty, Forrest, Gary (MK's uncle), and Julie (MK's aunt.) Abhi shares for the first time that he loves Mary Kate - written in a homemade card he made featuring photos of us throughout our time together.
March 19, 2024: It's MK's birthday and Abhi showers MK with gifts and takes her to Shimogamo where she has the BEST sushi she has ever had - imported from Japan.
March 29, 2024: Abhi and MK go to Lake Pleasant for the first time.
April 13, 2024: Abhi goes on a road trip with MK, Maple, Tara (MK's friend), and Mandy (Tara's mom.) We go to Sedona, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon. Abhi stays in his first Airbnb.
May 4, 2024: MK and Abhi go to Kitt Peak National Observatory where MK thinks she's getting proposed too...but it doesn't happen.
The rest, as they say, is history (or herstory).

Planning a surprise proposal for somebody who is a planner and nosey poses a lot of unique challenges. I knew I needed help and that's where Desirae (MK's friend) came in!
I reached out to Desirae and asked if she could help me plan a proposal on May 18th. Desirae shared with me that MK had already made plans to go paddle boarding at Butcher Jones Lake with Desirae that day. I asked MK what she was doing, on different weekends, and casually suggested that I would be open to going to the lake with her. Unbeknownst to her on the plans, she invited me to the lake day with Desirae. The plans did later change to go to Lake Pleasant.
The morning of, I showed up on time (which rarely happens) and MK was ready to go... however the only problem was her outfit. I mentioned to her that we would video call my parents in the car (which is normal.) MK went upstairs and changed into something even worse. I had to let it be or else she would be on to me and my plan. MK then decided that she wanted to wear something else so she went and changed again - thank goodness!
When we arrived at the lake, Desirae was already there (because she set up the location of the proposal.) MK tells me to park down by the lake, while Desirae is telling Abhi to go the opposite way. Abhi goes up the hill where MK see's a ring balloon and says out loud "Oh look! Someone's having their bachelorette party here, how fun!" Desirae is in the back seat shaking and I am franticly trying to turn around without ruining the surprise.
I finally get the car parked in the spot MK wanted - by the lake. MK gets out and starts unloading the car and then Desirae says "Oh hey guys, come look at this." MK is thinking what on earth is she talking about and why is she walking the opposite direction of the lake. I lead MK up the hill and there she saw the balloons that spelled out "Marry Me."
The rest, as they say, is history.
